Privacy, in plain language
We run a small community site. We collect very little, we sell nothing, and this page tells you everything.
What we collect, and why
- If you just browse: anonymous, aggregated visit statistics (page views, country-level location) so we know which rooms people find useful. No advertising trackers, no profiles.
- If you contribute a room: the photos, notes, room details, and display name you choose to share — these become the public entry — plus your email address, which is never shown publicly. We use it for one thing: recognising you as a contributor so your access works on any device, and contacting you about your own contribution if we need to.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or share your email or data with anyone.
- Send marketing email. If we ever start a newsletter, it will be opt-in and easy to leave.
- Use advertising trackers or sell ads against your data.
- Alter your photos beyond cropping or brightness — never edits that change what the camera saw.
Where your data lives
Contributions and photos are stored with Supabase (our database provider) and the site is served by Vercel. Approved photos and entry details are public by design — that's the site. Your email is stored privately alongside your contribution.
Your choices
Want a photo, an entry, or your email removed or corrected? One message: hello@theroomview.com. We'll act on it promptly and confirm when it's done.
Curated entries
Some entries are assembled by us from publicly available information and openly licensed photos. These are always labelled, always credit the photographer with the licence named, and are removed or corrected on request from the original author — same address as above.
