The room, not just the hotel.
The Room View is a small, independent community that documents one precise thing: which specific hotel rooms have which views.
Why we exist
Hotels sell "ocean view" as a category, but within any category the rooms differ enormously — floor, angle, what's outside the window, which way the sunset falls. Hotels cannot guarantee a view; the guests who stayed in the exact room can describe it precisely. We collect that knowledge, room by room, with the photo to prove it.
What we believe
- The room is the unit. Not the hotel. An entry without a specific room number or name doesn't belong here.
- Real stays, real photos. Every entry is anchored to a photograph taken from the room. No photo, no entry.
- Honesty over volume. Our destination counts are real. If a page says three rooms, we have three rooms. If a room has a drawback — noise, an obstruction — we say so.
- AI polishes, never invents. Contributors' notes are refined into readable prose by AI, but no fact is ever added that the contributor didn't provide. Curated entries assembled from public sources and openly licensed photos are always labelled as such, with credit.
- Not a booking site. No commissions, no affiliate links, no hotel partnerships. We are a reference written by travellers, for travellers — that independence is the whole point.
How it works
Browse freely. Photos unlock when you contribute one room of your own — your photo, your room number, your notes. One contribution unlocks everything, permanently, on any device, with no password. See how it works →
